a vision for the future

I’m proud of all I’ve accomplished as alderman of the 39th Ward, but I know that we can do even more.

These are some of the things that I look forward to working on in my next term:

• Completing the expansion of wireless internet access to include the entire city of Chicago.

• Working with Alderman Ed Burke and Alderman Richard Mell to provide live webcasts of City Council meetings.

• Expanding housing options for 39th Ward Seniors. I will be working to create more affordable housing units for our community’s senior citizens.

• Developing a new Senior Wellness Center. This Center, the first of its kind in Chicago, will emphasize building a healthy, active lifestyle, which will ultimately reduce the need for medical treatment.

• Replacing the abandoned gas station at Kimball and Peterson with a new development, in cooperation with the Hollywood-North Park Community Association.

• Revitalizing the commercial corridor along Elston Avenue, in cooperation with the West Walker Civic Association.

• Expanding housing opportunities for 39th Ward residents.

• Expanding and improving community green space. I will work with the Chicago Park District to develop the corner of Foster and Pulaski, which includes erecting a statute of historic labor leader Samuel Gompers in Gompers Park.
